Arsenal have come up short in this season’s Premier League title race and it has caused much frustration for their fans.
Arsenal’s injury crisis this season has been a huge factor as to why they currently trail Liverpool by 13 points in the Premier League and look destined to another season without a trophy.
There is still hope in the Champions League however, Arsenal have a poor record against Dutch teams and without Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli, their task against PSV becomes even more difficult.
Mikel Arteta however, is already looking ahead to the summer and how his side can go again. Arsenal have opened ‘concrete talks’ with Joshua Kimmich and it would prove to be a shrewd piece of business for the Gunners.

Julien Nagelsmann reveals why Joshua Kimmich was named Germany captain
Julian Nagelsmann has worked with Kimmich at both Bayern Munich and for the German national side. Kimmich was recently appointed the captain of Germany ahead of the likes of Antonio Rudiger and Arsenal’s Kai Havertz.
In a press conference before Germany’s Nations League clash with Hungary, Nagelsmann described Kimmich as a ‘role model’ within the dressing room and how he has a ‘good connection’ with his team mates.
Nagelsmann stated: “He always gives his all, he always wants to train — sometimes too much — he is never tired, he always wants to win.”
Having won eight Bundesliga titles and the Champions League during his career, the 30-year-old has seen it all in the game and is an asset to any club both on and off the pitch.
Kimmich will bring experience to Arteta’s Arsenal squad
With a relatively young and inexperienced Arsenal squad, Arteta will be excited at the prospect of bringing a winning mentality like Kimmich into the dressing room.
In recent seasons, the young Gunners have certainly shown signs of letting pressure situations get the better of them within title races and hostile atmospheres.

In addition, the German captain also brings versatility with the ability to play both right back and in central midfield. Kimmich is a better option than Thomas Partey in both of those roles.
Comfortable on the ball, tenacious in the tackle and a natural leader, Arteta could not wish for a better fit for this Arsenal team.
