Arsenal stars Kai Havertz and Martin Odegaard are great friends on and off the pitch.

The Norwegian has been at Arsenal for over three years now and is the captain of the club. Havertz, on the other hand, has only been a Gunner for about 15 months.

Mikel Arteta has built a tremendous togetherness in the squad where every player is there to support each other at all times.

Odegaard was always going to look after Havertz, but one amazing gesture from the Arsenal captain blossomed an incredible friendship between the pair.

What Martin Odegaard did to Kai Havertz at Arsenal that made them good friends

Havertz had a really difficult start to life on the pitch at Arsenal.

The decision to sign the German led to a ton of criticism, and Havertz not hitting the ground running increased the noise around him.

That wasn’t ideal at all, but the good thing for the number 29 was that he had amazing teammates by his side to support him.

Arsenal take on Bournemouth this weekend and this game will bring back one good memory for Havertz – it was in the same fixture last season that he scored his first goal for the Gunners.

The North Londoners won a penalty in that game and just when Bukayo Saka was getting ready to take it, Odegaard went up to him and asked him to hand the ball over to Havertz.

The Englishman did just that and the former Chelsea star converted that penalty. Every one of his teammates celebrated the goal like it was a last-minute winner, just to give Havertz the confidence he needed.

The Athletic now reveal that Odegaard’s gesture ‘meant a lot’ to Havertz, and that blossomed a great friendship between the two.

The duo even went on holiday together with their respective partners in the summers.

The actual turning point for Havertz at Arsenal came in a different game

Many feel that the penalty at Bournemouth was the game that changed Havertz’s fortunes at Arsenal, but we disagree.

Yes, that goal would’ve lifted some weight off his shoulders, but we think the turning point was a feisty game against Newcastle United at St James’ Park.

Havertz started as a number 10 in Odegaard’s absence and had a very good game. At one moment in the first half, he made a reckless tackle on Sean Longstaff that sparked a bit of a brawl.

Multiple Newcastle players came after Havertz, but the German smiled and walked away as if nothing had happened. Arsenal fans loved his performance against Newcastle that day.

That, in our opinion, changed Havertz’s mindset, and he scored three goals in his next six league games for Arsenal. He has been brilliant since.
