Fabrizio Romano confirms Martin Zubimendi deal to Arsenal
Journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Martin Zubimendi’s deal to Arsenal is set to be completed early this summer.
Zubimendi has verbally agreed a long-term deal at the Emirates Stadium and Arsenal will pay his £51m release clause to become Andrea Berta’s first signing.
It is expected that the Spaniard will replace Jorginho in the Arsenal squad, who is expected to depart for Flamengo at the end of his contract.
Thomas Partey is also set to sign a new deal at Arsenal and will join Zubimendi as Arteta’s midfield options for the next campaign.

Arsenal set to open Leandro Trossard contract talks
According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal are set to open new contract talks with forward Leandro Trossard ahead of the summer window.
Trossard’s future was in doubt at the club following interest from Saudi Arabia and the expected arrival of multiple forward options this summer.
However, the report claims the Gunners want to keep Trossard until the summer of 2029 amid interest from AC Milan.
It could impact the future of Gabriel Martinelli, who has also been linked with a move away from the club in order to free up wages.

Mikel Arteta criticised by Jerome Rothen over Champions League comments
Former France international Jerome Rothen has slammed Arsenal boss Arteta over his comments that the Gunners were the best team in the Champions League this season.
Speaking on the Rothen S’enflamme podcast, it is claimed that the people of France have not taken kindly to Arteta’s words.
Rothen stated: “Listen, Arteta, I’m disappointed with his reaction, and I understand that there’s frustration and anger, especially after the match. We saw him very angry with the French press.
“We had a debate about it, right after, I think he took a tactical lesson from Luis Enrique in the match. He made up for it in the first half but it didn’t last the entire match either in the first half, but one half out of four is not enough to be able to hope to qualify.”
