Myles Lewis-Skelly opens up on England call-up

Arsenal star Myles Lewis-Skelly has given insight into the situation leading to his confirmed England senior squad call-up.

Speaking on the official England YouTube channel, he said: “So initially I was on the phone with my friend the day before the big announcement and this was the Thursday. I was on the phone with my friend then I got a call from a number and I was like ‘bro, I got to call you back, let me take this call’.

“So I hung up with my friend and I ‘clears throat’ put on my good voice and I’m getting ready then the person says ‘We got your food, it’s outside’. It’s Uber Eats for my mum.”

Declan Rice then responded by saying: “So you were hoping it was a call-up and it wasn’t? ‘Laughs’ Did you have any conversation before that then?”

Real Madrid’s thoughts on Martin Zubimendi transfer

Arsenal could be set to battle it out with Real Madrid over a possible transfer for Real Sociedad star Martin Zubimendi.

Both teams are keen to bolster their midfield ranks this summer, with the Spain international viewed as one of the best number six options in Europe.

According to AS, Real Madrid are especially keen on Zubimendi, believing he is a quality player who could fit the side.

Antonio Rudiger praises Riccardo Calafiori

Arsenal defender Riccardo Calafiori has come in for plenty of praise from Real Madrid star Antonio Rudiger.

It came ahead of Italy taking on Germany, with the two nations facing off in UEFA Nations League action on Thursday night.

When asked about facing off with Calafiori, Rudiger said: “Calafiori, I know him from the time he was at Roma in the Primavera and he had a big injury ACL and then he made a great comeback and he’s now at Arsenal.
