Arsenal have been left frustrated once again in the Premier League as they stumbled their way to a draw against Manchester United over the weekend.

The Gunners will want to forget that soon as they switch focus to the Champions League as part of their midweek action.

PSV Eindhoven await them on Wednesday night, with a six-goal lead giving Arsenal a comfortable advantage at the Emirates Stadium.

So with that said, here’s a look at the latest Arsenal news ahead of another busy day.

Albert Sambi Lokonga makes injury return

Arsenal loanee Albert Sambi Lokonga made his return from injury over the weekend as he featured for Sevilla for the first time in weeks.

The midfielder has impressed in spells this season for the Spanish outfit, but his latest absence through injury has kept him sidelined.

Fortunately, he made a return against Real Sociedad from the substitute bench, gaining over 20 minutes of fitness and helping the side record a 1-0 win.

Dermot Gallagher defends Anthony Taylor mistake

Arsenal saw another small referee mistake go against them over the weekend as they drew against Manchester United.

The Gunners fell behind as Bruno Fernandes struck a free-kick into the back of the net past the outstretched hand of David Raya.

There was controversy as questions were asked about the wall distance from Arsenal to the ball as Anthony Taylor measured out the paces.

It turned out that the distance was 11.2 yards rather than the maximum distance being ten yards for the wall to be placed.

Ex-referee Dermot Gallagher defended the decision though, stating on Sky Sports: “The referee felt it was ten yards and in fairness to him, the law says a minimum of ten yards. It doesn’t say they can’t go back to 11.

“He may have factored in that when a free kick is taken, the wall moves forward anyhow so by the time the free kick is taken, it’s closer to ten.

“I’m not sure the calibration [of the measurement] is right anyhow, but Anthony Taylor will have his system of measuring ten yards.”

Wayne Rooney urges Arsenal to sign Jean-Philippe Mateta

Former Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney has urged Arsenal to sign Crystal Palace star Jean-Philippe Mateta as the club’s new striker option.

It comes as the Gunners continue to struggle with chances in front of goal, which is likely to be fixed in the summer window with some new additions.

With Mateta banging in the goals for Palace, Rooney has suggested he is someone the North London club should look at signing.

He said on Match of the Day 2: “Mateta is a big, strong lad who scores a lot of goals.

“From watching Arsenal over the past few games in the Premier League, they have put a lot of balls into the box without having anyone to get on the end of them. I am sure he would help from that point of view.”
