Arsenal preparing Martin Zubimendi’s medical ahead of £51m move
Martin Zubimendi has been linked with Arsenal for a while now but they have always faced competition from Premier League rivals and European giants.
There had been fears that Real Madrid could hijack the transfer for Zubimendi and with the Gunners wanting to build their summer plans around the 26-year-old, plans have been put in place to ensure they win the race for his signature.
BBC Sport Correspondent Sami Mokbel confirmed on Wednesday that Arsenal had booked Zubimendi in for a medical, with the mood around the camp ‘relaxed’ ahead of confirming their first major signing of the summer.

Thierry Henry agrees with Gary Neville on Arsenal’s disappointing season
Arsenal legend Thierry Henry was a guest on the ‘Stick to Football’ podcast, where he was asked by Gary Neville about his thoughts on a disappointing season for the Gunners.
Neville admitted to being ‘massively disappointed’ with Arteta’s side and Henry was in agreement following another trophyless campaign.
“I’m not saying disappointment, but it’s normal that people are raising questions now about what the team are doing,” the Frenchman stated.
“Yes we can talk about injuries and yes we can talk about this, but I can go back to a time when we had injuries at Arsenal and no one raised nothing. 2006, look at the injuries we had.
“So yes injuries, but in the last three years, it’s normal people are asking how we didn’t win a cup or been able to be in the situation to bring one.”

Thierry Henry hits out at Raheem Sterling transfer
Henry was keen to digest the reasons behind the parts that went wrong for Arsenal this season, one of those being the failure to improve their attacking options.
In the end, Arsenal settled for a deadline day panic loan signing by taking Raheem Sterling off Chelsea’s hands.
That proved to be a disastrous decision with Sterling performing way below par – despite relatively low expectations.
Speaking about the decision to loan the winger, Henry didn’t hold back in criticising Arteta for prioritising the 30-year-old ahead of a number nine, saying: “He got Sterling when everyone wanted a nine. He had time to get a nine. I’m not the coach, I don’t know how the discussions went, but everyone has been screaming for a nine.”
