Arsenal are under pressure to deliver major honours next season.
The FA Cup triumph in 2020 remains the last trophy won by the club and despite Arsenal finishing second for the third consecutive season, the 2024-25 campaign will be seen as a failure at the Emirates Stadium.
Ian Wright has backed Arsenal to end their heartbreak and claim the Premier League title next season but in order to do that, Andrea Berta will need to provide Mikel Arteta with some attacking firepower this summer.
Thierry Henry criticised Arsenal for their lack of silverware this season and has now discussed the progress of the club in more depth, as well as giving his verdict on the Gunners’ current boss.

Thierry Henry verdict on Arsenal’s ‘disappointment’ this season
Speaking on the latest episode of the ‘Stick to Football’ podcast, Henry was asked by fellow pundit Gary Neville for his thoughts on Arsenal’s campaign.
Neville claimed he was ‘massively disappointed’ with the Gunners and Henry could not disagree following another trophyless season.
Henry stated: “I’m not saying disappointment, but it’s normal that people are raising questions now about what the team are doing.
“Yes we can talk about injuries and yes we can talk about this, but I can go back to a time when we had injuries at Arsenal and no one raised nothing. 2006, look at the injuries we had.
“Nobody said anything, the only thing we were happy with was passing Tottenham on the last day, that’s the only thing we shouted a bit about. But other than that you got the top four and a champions league final.
“So yes injuries, but in the last three years, it’s normal people are asking how we didn’t win a cup or been able to be in the situation to bring one.”
Thierry Henry gives verdict on Mikel Arteta
Following the discussion about the ‘disappointment’ of the season, Arsenal’s record goalscorer was then asked about his thoughts on Arteta.
Despite his own criticism of the side, Henry was quick to defend the Gunners boss and confirmed he still thought he was doing ‘great’ in his role.
| Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal record (all competitions) | Matches | Wins | Draws | Defeats |
| Arteta | 289 | 172 | 50 | 67 |
Henry explained: “Do I think Mikel is doing a good job? Yes, he’s doing a great job.”
Josh Kroenke’s speech to the women’s side was a good sign that the club’s hierarchy are aligned in progressing the club forward – this summer is the time for the talking to stop and the actions to begin.
