Arsenal icon Martin Keown loved the strength he saw from one of Mikel Arteta’s players against Olympiacos.

The Gunners made it two wins from two in the Champions League with a win over Olympiacos.

Goals from Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka secured the three points in what was a game of two halves for Arsenal

Though the goalscorers will take the plaudits, Martin Odegaard was at his very best, which positively impacted striker Viktor Gyokeres

Martin Keown said Viktor Gyokeres was like a bull against Olympiacos

Odegaard and Gyokeres already have a connection at Arsenal, and on matchday two of the Champions League, the pair were able to showcase their growing partnership on the pitch.

In the 12th minute, Odegaard threaded the ball through to the Swede, who out-muscled two Olympiacos defenders before taking a shot on goal.

The ball agonisingly hit the post, but Martinelli was there to convert.

Arsenal fans loved Gyokeres’ show of strength in the build-up to the opener, as did Martin Keown

Speaking on TNT Sports after Arsenal’s win [01/10/25 22:07], Keown was eager to shine the spotlight on Arteta’s new striker.

“By the way, you have to say that Gyokeres is like a bull,” the Arsenal legend said.

“Like a bull there between two men there, the way that he gets onto that ball, starting to tick a little bit.”

Keown was encouraged by what he saw from Gyokeres against Olympiacos, whose movement, and particularly strength, made him unplayable at times.

Gyokeres was so impressive against Olympiacos

It was a performance from the Swede that fans are growing used to, recording very few touches on the ball but being able to make an impact regardless.

The 27-year-old will struggle to comprehend how he didn’t get off the mark for Arsenal in the Champions League on the night, firing three shots on goal during the contest.

Gyokeres’ bullish ways also came of use at the other end of the pitch, as the striker put in a shift defensively, making three clearances.

It was another encouraging display from the forward, who is certainly finding his feet match-by-match in this Arsenal squad.
