Viktor Gyokeres finally completed his move to Arsenal last week, joining the Gunners in a £63 million move from Sporting CP.
Andrea Berta engaged in strenuous negotiations with the Portuguese club over the prolific striker before finally reaching an agreement.
Arsenal announced the signing of Gyokeres last Saturday, with the Swede immediately flying to Singapore to join up with Mikel Arteta’s squad for their pre-season debut.
Gyokeres then made his debut against Tottenham on Thursday in Hong Kong, and could now be in line for his first start in a red and white shirt against Villarreal at the Emirates on Wednesday.

Martin Odegaard says being Scandinavian has allowed him to bond with Viktor Gyokeres already
A growing core of Scandinavian players is emerging in N5.
Arsenal signed Christian Norgaard from Brentford for £15 million earlier this summer, acquiring the Dane as a replacement for Jorginho.
The experienced midfielder, captain Martin Odegaard and Gyokeres all come from Scandinavia, and have supposedly built a rapport in their early days together in North London.
Asked about how Gyokeres is settling in during the pre-Tottenham match press conference on Wednesday, Odegaard cited their nationalities as a way in which the two players have bonded.
“With the language and everything, it’s been easier for me to help him,” Odegaard said.
“We can speak our own language. Scandinavians, they always bond well together. So, in that way, it’s been really natural.”
While not identical languages, Swedish and Norwegian are very similar, and it’s no surprise that Odegaard has used Gyokeres’ mother tongue to help him integrate into the Arsenal squad.

Martin Odegaard can rediscover his best form with Viktor Gyokeres in Arsenal’s team
Odegaard struggled at times last season, particularly while the likes of Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus were out injured.
The playmaker thrives when he has movement in front of him, excelling at threading balls through to dynamic forwards.
Without this movement, his creative abilities simply aren’t showcased.
Gyokeres could help Odegaard rediscover his best form, and the pair could form a lethal partnership that could carry the Arsenal attack.
| Viktor Gyokeres’ Primeira Liga Statistics 2024/25 | |
| Appearances | 33 |
| Goals | 39 |
| Assists | 7 |
| Shots per 90 | 4.08 |
| Expected Goals per 90 | 0.99 |
| Key Passes per 90 | 1.96 |
| Expected Assists per 90 | 0.22 |
The 27-year-old striker is excellent at making runs in behind the opposition defence, with the timing and ferocity of these darts exceptional.
Odegaard will have someone in front of him whom he can constantly look to feed with quick and instinctive through-balls.
This should get the best out of the Arsenal skipper, while Gyokeres should also profit enormously.
