Former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has shared his verdict on Arsenal’s start to the 2025/26 season.
Arsenal fans have given Pochettino a lot of stick over the years when he was Spurs manager, but others at the club think fondly of the Argentine.
Mikel Arteta played alongside Pochettino during his time at Paris Saint-Germain as a player, still maintaining a strong relationship with the now United States national team coach.
After leaving Chelsea, the manager’s career took him to the States, but he’s still close to the action in the Premier League, following the title race from afar.

Mauricio Pochettino shares what he honestly thinks of Arsenal
Despite his strong links to Tottenham, Pochettino has not been able to hide his admiration for what Arsenal are doing this season.
In the same week that the Gunners made it eight clean sheets in a row, Pochettino spoke to talkSPORT, where he shared his honest thoughts on Arteta’s squad.
“It’s very open, I think the most solid team today about results and performance is Arsenal,” the Argentine coach said.
“Mikel Arteta is doing an amazing job, and it’s the most regular and solid team so far, but it’s really open.”
While Pochettino’s praise of Arsenal’s current form is unsurprising, his take on the title race is, given how others in the footballing world have been talking.
Chris Sutton has already asked how many points Arsenal will win the league by, suggesting that, already, the title race is done.
Added to that, Paul Merson has said he’d be flabbergasted if Arsenal don’t win the title, expressing an opposing opinion to Pochettino, who thinks the race is open.
Pochettino’s managerial record against Arsenal
Arsenal are very good, but it’s still only ten games into the Premier League season, so Pochettino is right to have such a view.
Despite the positive feedback, some fans won’t appreciate what Pochettino said, as he was the enemy for six years, spending five years at Spurs and then a year at Chelsea.
| Matches | Wins | Draws | Losses | Goals for | Goals against | Points per match |
| 17 | 4 | 8 | 5 | 22 | 28 | 1.18 |
During his time in England, Pochettino came up against Arsenal as many as 17 times in all competitions, but only managed to win on four occasions.
The last time that the Argentine saw one of his teams face the Gunners was in 2024, when Arsenal beat Chelsea 5-0 at the Emirates.
Arsenal supporters would’ve seen that result as a worthy send-off for Pochettino, whose focus is now solely on the 2026 World Cup with the United States.
