Max Dowman has become a star during Arsenal’s pre-season tour.
The 15-year-old has trained with the first team many times before, and he finally got an opportunity to play under Mikel Arteta in Singapore.
Dowman did well after coming off the bench against AC Milan, but it was against Newcastle United that he blew everyone away with his cameo.
The Arsenal Academy star is still training with the senior squad, and he tried to copy Declan Rice’s ‘signature’ skill in training on Wednesday.
But that didn’t go to plan.
Mikel Arteta ruins Max Dowman’s attempt at copying Declan Rice’s skill
Rice has taken Max Dowman under his wing at Arsenal.
The Englishman knows what it takes to make his debut in the Premier League as a teenager, and he is a real leader in the squad as well.
Dowman will learn a lot from Rice about having the right mentality and work ethic at the top level, but it won’t just be learning when the former West Ham man is around.
Rice appears to be a really fun guy to be with at Arsenal, and in Hong Kong on Wednesday, the midfielder showed off his signature skill – bouncing the ball on his back.
Dowman seemed impressed and decided to do it himself, but that attempt failed because of his manager.
Just when the teenager tossed the ball up in the air and got in position to bounce it off his back, Arteta appeared behind him and punched the ball away.
Dowman had his hands on his face in a bit of disappointment, but he smiled it off as Arteta walked away with a smile on his face himself.

There’s another player Max Dowman should be looking up to at Arsenal
Rice is a great role model for Dowman, and he is right to look up to him.
The England international will help the 15-year-old every way he possibly can, and that will make his transition into senior football a lot easier.
Another player whom Dowman should get advice from is Martin Odegaard.
The Norwegian doesn’t just play in a similar position to Dowman, but he knows better than anyone else how tough it is to have all the spotlight at such a young age.
We’re sure Odegaard, being the captain, will play his part in mentoring the teenager.
