Arsenal were dealt a massive blow after it was confirmed that Bukayo Saka will be out injured for a significant period.
The Gunners have had a lot of problems this season. Mikel Arteta hasn’t had a fully fit squad available at his disposal at any point since the start of the campaign.
Martin Odegaard’s injury in September was a humongous blow for Arsenal, but the Gunners suffered an even bigger loss recently.
Saka is expected to be out for over two months after he underwent hamstring surgery. That could have a big impact on the Premier League title race.
Micah Richards predicts where Arsenal will finish in the Premier League
Arsenal were among the favourites to win the Premier League title at the start of the season.
The Gunners finished second in each of the last two campaigns, and many people felt that this would be the year that Arteta’s side would go all the way.
However, in what is a big surprise, Liverpool have been dominating the Premier League. They are six points above Arsenal despite playing a game fewer and are now the favourites to win it.
In the Rest is Football podcast, Alan Shearer claimed that he still wouldn’t write Arsenal off in the title race just yet despite the advantage Liverpool have.
Micah Richards, however, thinks Arsenal’s Premier League title dream is over because of one reason – Saka’s injury! He has predicted that the Gunners will finish second again.
He said: “I remember at the start of the season, we talked about key players, didn’t we? We talked about Haaland getting injured, that could be the difference, or Rodri getting injured…
“I just think with Arsenal now, Saka being injured for – there are different reports, some are saying a month, some are saying two months, some are saying a little bit longer than that – I think if Arsenal would have had a fit squad from start to finish, I’d agree with Alan, that it’s not over yet, but losing Saka, he’s too much for this team, he’s got too much responsibility.
“So, unfortunately, I think they’re going to finish second.”

When Arsenal are hoping that Saka will return from his injury
Hamstring injuries are always tricky and what makes it worse is when a player has to undergo surgery to rectify the issue. Unfortunately for Saka, he falls into the second category.
Arteta confirmed that the Englishman will miss more than two months of football because of his injury, which means he will definitely be out for all of January.
But, Arsenal are hopeful that Saka will return by the end of February.
If that happens, the Gunners number seven will be available for the final 11 games of the league this season.
Arsenal need to be in touching distance of Liverpool at that point. If they are able to do that, we think Arteta’s men can prove Richards wrong and win the Premier League title.
