Arsenal are coming to terms with the injury to Bukayo Saka, who suffered a hamstring blow against Crystal Palace.

After Arsenal’s win against Ipswich Town, manager Mikel Arteta confirmed that Saka underwent surgery to mend his right hamstring.

The prognosis varies depending on the winger’s recovery, with one injury expert predicting that Saka could miss up to four months of action.

Arteta kept his cards close to his chest, making an early shout that the 23-year-old could return in two months, with an early March return anticipated.

Arsenal’s thoughts on Bukayo Saka’s recovery timeframe

The Arsenal manager commenced life without Saka at the Emirates, as the Gunners beat Ipswich 1-0, seeing Gabriel Martinelli fill in for the right-winger.

Arteta warned of the differences between Martinelli and Saka, making it clear that the Hale End product can’t be easily replaced.

Arsenal will struggle to cope without Saka, who is an integral part of the squad however, the club have an optimistic outlook on the forward’s recovery.

That’s according to the Mirror’s latest update, who understand that Arsenal ‘still hope’ to have their key creator back by ‘the end of February’.

It would be a significant boost for the Gunners to have Saka back ahead of schedule although, it’s far too early to determine exactly when the winger will be back on the pitch.

The games Saka could miss in January and February

Saka is set to miss some crucial Arsenal fixtures as he prepares for a lengthy period on the sidelines.

Arsenal will hope that his absence is not as detrimental as that of Martin Odegaard’s earlier in the season, as the Norweigan was ruled out for over six weeks.

While a late February return seems to be the best possible outcome at present, the forward could still miss a host of must-win clashes.

Arsenal play nine games in January, with each fixture holding great meaning, as the Premier League, FA Cup, Champions League and EFL Cup heat up.

February is a less packed schedule for Arteta’s side who play five times in the month at present.
