Arsenal stars Declan Rice and Noni Madueke were at the forefront of England’s latest victory in their FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Thomas Tuchel’s men produced an emphatic 5-0 win over Serbia to move to within touching distance of reaching next summer’s tournament.
Madueke scored his first goal for his country with a powerful run down the flank, before showing exquisite composure to dink the ball over the on-rushing keeper.
Rice produced two assists, including the opening goal for captain Harry Kane and pundit Micah Richards noticed something ‘ridiculous’ about the Arsenal star’s performance in Belgrade.

Micah Richards lauds Declan Rice’s performance for England v Serbia
Speaking on the latest episode of the ‘Rest is Football’ podcast, Richards has hailed Rice’s latest performance for England and believes his set piece deliveries are ‘ridiculous’.
Rice planted a corner on Kane’s head to open the scoring, before producing a pinpoint free kick for defender Marc Guehi to make it 4-0 on the night.
Richards stated: “The delivery though, Declan Rice. The delivery is just ridiculous. He puts it on a six pence every time. If it’s not for Arsenal, it’s for England.
“He knows exactly what to do with it. He puts a little bit of bend, a little bit of swerve, where he’s got that lofty one as well. He’s got everything in his armoury.
“I just thought watching Rice tonight, and even though he should have scored a couple of goals tonight, it’s the way he arrives in the box. He always knows where to be, the timing of his run.”
Paul Robinson also praised Rice and even claimed that his England teammate and Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham should learn from the Gunners star in how to arrive late in the box.
Mikel Arteta will be excited with Declan Rice’s match statistics for England v Serbia
Mikel Arteta will have been a keen spectator for England’s clash with Serbia and would have loved what he saw from both Rice and Madueke.
Myles Lewis-Skelly was left out of Tuchel’s squad and Eberechi Eze was an unused substitute, however, the remaining Gunners duo did not disappoint.
| Serbia v England match statistics | Declan Rice |
| Touches | 62 |
| Assists | 2 |
| Key passes | 3 |
| Duels won | 100% |
| Total shots | 4 |
Rice in particular was everywhere in the middle of the park, breaking up play from the hosts, before arriving late and being a real threat in the opposition box.
It was the all-action performance that Arteta loves from his number eight and will now be hoping to see a repeat in the upcoming clash with Nottingham Forest.
