Everyone who watches the Premier League has been in awe of Arsenal’s squad depth this season.
The Gunners signed eight new players in the summer transfer window, and they now have at least two quality options in every single position.
That has been one of the reasons why the North Londoners are on top of the Premier League table and have been flawless in the Champions League and Carabao Cup as well.
Arsenal’s defence has been their biggest strength, and Micah Richards has been amazed by the options they have at the back.
Micah Richards says Arsenal’s second-choice defence is ‘ridiculous’
Arsenal made 10 changes in their game against Brighton and Hove Albion in the Carabao Cup.
Max Dowman and Andre Harriman-Annous’ inclusion made all the headlines, while Ethan Nwaneri and Bukayo Saka’s goals won the game for the Gunners.
However, what was interesting to see was Arteta deploying a new back-four that had never played together before.
Ben White and Myles Lewis-Skelly started in the two full-back positions, while in the heart of the defence was a new partnership between Cristhian Mosquera and Piero Hincapie.
All four players performed brilliantly and kept a clean sheet. That seems to have blown Richards away.
He said on the Rest is Football podcast: “But you know they changed the whole of the back four as well?
“Look at this for a second string defence: Ben White, Mosquera, Hincapie and Lewis-Skelly.
“That is a second-choice back four. It’s ridiculous. That is ridiculous! Arsenal now, they really are cooking.”

Rival clubs must envy Arsenal’s second-choice defence
Fans of Arsenal’s rivals must really be jealous of Arsenal’s defensive strength.
Arteta’s first-choice back four of Jurrien Timber, William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes and Riccardo Calafiori is the best in the world, but their backups are all elite as well.
A backline of White, Mosquera, Hincapie and Lewis-Skelly would walk into most teams in the Premier League, if not all of them.
Thankfully for Arsenal fans, all eight names above play for their club, and that is why they are the favourites to win it all this season.
