Arsenal starlet Mika Biereth trained with the first-team squad on several occasions over the years prior to his loan spells this season.

Biereth is currently thriving on loan at Austrian side SK Sturm Graz, and has admitted that training with Gabriel Magalhaes helped him develop physically.

The 21-year-old joined Arsenal as a teenager from Fulham, and was on the bench at times in the 2021-22 season when Mikel Arteta’s side were struggling with a lot of injury and illness-related absences.

The striker has now revealed which Arsenal players at the time were the best at helping him adapt to first-team action.

Mika Biereth praises Tierney, Holding and Ramsdale

In an interview with Inews, Biereth highlighted Kieran Tierney, Rob Holding and Aaron Ramsdale as the three players who “helped him out the most” when training with the Arsenal first team.

Both Tierney and Holding left the club last summer. Holding, who failed to replace William Saliba well as Arsenal’s title challenge collapsed, moved to Crystal Palace, but has not played a single Premier League minute for them.

Tierney did leave on loan, joining Real Sociedad after falling out of favour last season, but it seems unlikely that he will return to the club, with his future currently unclear.

Ramsdale has also fallen out of favour this season, and looks set to leave, meaning that potentially, none of Biereth’s three favourite senior players will be at the club next season.

Ramsdale in particular has been displaying strong leadership skills despite losing his starting spot, and was recently spotted partaking in a coaching session with Jorginho and some of the youth academy sides.

Tierney was a candidate to become a future captain before losing his place in the team, and Holding was valued by Arteta for his character in the dressing room.

All three players were clearly supportive of Biereth and other youngsters who would link up with the senior squad, and Arteta will have been delighted that some of his squad took initiative with the academy stars.

The likes of Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe broke through from the academy into the first team, and credited David Luiz with being helpful for their development. It is now down to current stars to do the same with the current crop of rising talent at the club.
