Mikel Arteta finally receives good news in Arsenal boost ahead of Crystal Palace

Gabriel Jesus and Fabio Vieira recently returned to full training with the Arsenal first-team squad.

Mikel Arteta and his Arsenal players have spent the last few days at a training camp in Dubai.

This opportunity to get away and reset came at a good time for the Gunners. The north London club have been in torrid form recently, having fallen to defeat in their last three matches, across all competitions.

Not only has this poor run seen them lose significant ground in the Premier League title race, having been top of the table on Christmas Day, but they were also dumped out of the FA Cup at the hands of Liverpool.

Arteta needed to stop the rot, and he will be hoping that the trip to Dubai has given his players a chance for some much-needed respite, and to get the disappointment of recent results out of their system.

As far as the title race is concerned, whilst there is a huge challenge ahead for the Gunners, they are not out of it as things stand. Arsenal fans should certainly still believe that this team can achieve something special this season.

However, as asserted by journalist Charles Watts, if Arsenal don’t get back to winning ways against Crystal Palace this weekend then it really will be time to panic.

Arsenal could call upon Gabriel Jesus and Fabio Vieira against Crystal Palace

Looking ahead to Saturday’s visit of the Eagles to the Emirates Stadium, Arteta will be hoping to be able to call upon both Gabriel Jesus and Fabio Vieira once again for that match.

As reported by football.london, both players returned to training in Dubai after recent injury lay-offs.

Given Jesus was only sidelined for a very brief period, he should be in contention to start against Crystal Palace. Arteta certainly needs the Brazilian to hit the ground running upon his return to action, and generally raise his game in the second half of the campaign. The former Manchester City man has just 3 Premier League strikes to his name this season. The Gunners need more from their first choice striker if they are to stand any chance of being crowned champions.

Vieira, meanwhile, has not been seen in red and white since November, and is far from being a nailed-on starter anyway. Arteta is unlikely to rush him back into action, as he will be short on match fitness. The Portuguese playmaker also desperately needs impress in what remains of this season, though, as he is yet to live up to the £34 million fee that Arsenal shelled out to sign him in the summer of 2022.
