It does now seem that we are at a pivotal point in Mikel Arteta’s power struggle between David Raya and Aaron Ramsdale at Arsenal.
Although Arsenal were undone by the officials at Newcastle yesterday, Raya once again didn’t cover himself in glory.

And following a below-par performance for Ramsdale against West Ham United earlier in the week, Arteta has ended up with two goalkeepers out of form.
Just a few months ago both Ramsdale and Raya appeared to be two of the best goalkeepers in the country, and there’s now question marks attached to both.
Moreover, whilst Arteta seems keen to stick with his new signing, Ramsdale does now deserve another chance to show his worth at Arsenal.
Jamie Carragher was speaking about the situation in the fall-out of Arsenal’s defeat yesterday.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Carragher said that Arteta made the right decision bringing in a goalkeeper this season.
Carragher stated that Arsenal wouldn’t win the league with Ramsdale, but he didn’t necessarily think Raya was the man either.
And whilst some fans may agree, a lot of Arsenal’s followers will point to how close Arteta came to lifting a league title with Ramsdale in goal.
Arteta has to give Ramsdale another starting chance at Arsenal
There’s speculation that Arsenal would consider selling Ramsdale in the near future given he’s been displaced this season.
And although that won’t sit well with many fans, it does also suggest that the £30m keeper perhaps should get another chance.

Ramsdale’s value must have massively depreciated from this time six months ago.
A fledgling England international who was going from strength to strength at the club, but he now can’t find a start.
Moreover, if Arteta does plan to cash-in on Ramsdale in the future, then he surely will need to give him time to show his worth.
And regardless, it’s the least that Ramsdale deserves.
Arsenal are now crying out for a good run of form showcasing creative and assured displays.
And with Ramsdale behind the back four again, Arsenal may fall into a familiar rhythm.
That’s not to say that Raya should be dropped permanently – far from it.
Yes, he had a difficult display yesterday, but he’s feeling the pressure too.
Both goalkeepers deserve chances to start regularly, much like Arteta suggested when Raya arrived at the club.
Arsenal have two brilliant keepers who are now bang out of form owing to the uncertainty around their situation.
And although a keeper switch might cause more chaos in the interim, it could lead to a more galvanised back line in the long-term.
