Mikel Arteta faced the media ahead of Arsenal’s clash with Liverpool, where he was asked about Ruben Amorim.
It’s been a week of change in the Premier League, as two of the Big Six have seen rotation at the top.
Enzo Maresca departed Chelsea, and soon after, Ruben Amorim was sacked by Manchester United.
At times, comparisons were made between Arteta and Amorim, based on their prior struggles at their clubs, which is one reason why the Portuguese’s dismissal has become a topic of conversation surrounding Arsenal.
Amorim’s prediction about Arteta was right; he knew he wouldn’t get as much time to adapt and impress, and now, the Arsenal manager has shared his thoughts on his exit.
“It’s always sad to see a colleague lose his job, obviously,” Arteta said, before sharing why he thinks Amorim didn’t get as much time as he has at Arsenal.
“We’re now where we are. You need support from the staff and players. At the end of the day, you need to win a lot of football matches if you want to stay in the job. That’s the reality and the nature of the job.”
Rio Ferdinand’s comment on Mikel Arteta went viral
On the topic of Arteta and Amorim, it wasn’t just comparisons that earned the spotlight, but also Rio Ferdinand’s bizarre comments.
You’re Mikel Arteta and you’ve just been offered the Man Utd job, what is your THREE WORD reaction?
Ferdinand stated that Arteta would consider the Man United job if it were offered to him, which generated a lot of discussion.
Interestingly, it was only last year that Ferdinand first claimed that Arteta would leave Arsenal for Man United, with his comments being replicated less than a year later.
Arteta’s mind is solely focused on delivering long-awaited silverware at Arsenal, contrary to Ferdinand’s belief.
