Mikel Arteta says two Arsenal players are suddenly ‘impacting the game’ more, they are ‘really important’

Arsenal will be looking to build momentum from their Champions League victory over Dinamo Zagreb as they travel to Wolves.

Arsenal defeated Wolves 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium on the opening day of the Premier League season and will head into the game knowing that three points are a must.

Myles Lewis-Skelly and William Saliba are expected to miss the Wolves clash but both have been making good progress in their recoveries from knee and hamstring injuries respectively.

Much has been made of Arsenal’s need for attacking reinforcements and Arteta sent a strong message to the Arsenal board that he needs options. However, Arteta has also been praising the improvement of two particular forwards in recent matches.

Mikel Arteta praises the impact of Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard in recent matches

Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of Wolves v Arsenal, manager Arteta heaped praise on Arsenal attacking duo Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard.

Arteta stated: “They’ve made another step forward, more impacting the game. Great asset to have, they are really important. Fight that both of them are in gives us a good threat.”

Trossard provided a delicious cross for Martinelli in the draw against Aston Villa in their last Premier League game and the Belgian has provided three assists in total in his last two matches.

Martinelli has also hit a rich vein of form, scoring once and providing an assist for Kai Havertz in the Champions League.

Arteta enlisting Arsenal squad’s advice on potential new signings

One interesting line from Arteta’s press conference was how he enlists the help of his Arsenal squad when signing potential new players.

Arteta explained: “They’ve all been there, we have very short numbers for many weeks, they recognise the situation. Sometimes I consult the players on signings, especially if they know them. It’s away from the computer and the data, they can sense it, they know about them.”

One thing that has been noticeable about Arteta’s tenure is the harmony amongst the squad, which wasn’t always the case under previous regimes.

Whether Arsenal bring in any fresh faces this window remains to be seen but one thing is for sure, any new Arsenal signing will be the right fit both on and off the pitch.
