Mikel Arteta wanted to sign him, now maestro reveals his true feelings about Arsenal with ‘difficult’ claim

A former transfer target of Mikel Arteta has revealed what it’s like to play against Arsenal.

The upcoming summer transfer window will be a crucial period for Arteta, who has realised the importance of having a plan for the market throughout this season.

Arsenal’s injury list has been unforgiving, not eased by the lack of depth in the squad at present.

Despite the Gunners being linked to a host of players over the past year, Arteta was left short for the 2024/25 campaign, with another season without silverware a real possibility.

Wolves midfielder Andre praises Arsenal

Arsenal were linked to many players before both the 2023/24 campaign and the 2024/25 term, but still, that didn’t urge Edu Gaspar to explore deals further than speculation.

In 2023, the Gunners’ transfer list revolved around midfielders, with Andre being linked to Arsenal that year.

One year later, the Brazilian secured a move to the Premier League, joining Wolves on deadline day of 2024.

Both Manchester United and Arsenal were linked to Andre, who after snubbing Liverpool to remain at Fluminense, made the move to Molineux.

Currently on international duty for Brazil, Andre sat down with TNT Sports to be quizzed on his start to life in England.

Journalist Monique Danello asked the Wolves ace to name the five hardest teams to face in the Premier League, leading the former Arsenal target to name the Gunners.

“Every game is really tough but let’s go Manchester City, despite their season not being very regular.

“Arsenal is also very difficult, a young team, a team that can keep the ball a lot.”

The 23-year-old also included Liverpool and Newcastle United in his list, revealing what he really thinks of some of the Premier League’s top sides.

Arsenal should be tempted by Andre again

Despite only arriving in England late in the summer transfer window, Andre hasn’t looked back since being integrated into the Wolves squad.

The Brazilian has been described as one of the best number sixes in the Premier League, as per Wolves icon Dave Edwards, via Wolves’ official website, and his numbers reinforce the claim.

Though Arsenal’s interest in Andre stems back to 2023, the midfielder shouldn’t necessarily be discarded as an option for Arteta, especially now that he’s proven himself in England.

Rising as such an impressive asset to Wolves in his first taste of European football, Andre is a force to be reckoned with and a player that the Gunners should be discouraged from closing the door on.
