Arsenal are hoping to secure Martin Zubimendi’s signature in the summer transfer window.

The news of Arsenal’s interest in Zubimendi came as a surprise, as it was reported that the Gunners were advancing in agreeing a deal for the midfielder.

While other clubs, such as Real Madrid, are interested in Zubimendi, those at the Emirates remain confident that the Real Sociedad star will be a Gunner from the 2025/26 campaign.

As expected, Arsenal fans have been watching Zubimendi closely in recent weeks, with the 26-year-old featuring heavily for Spain on international duty.

Spanish media provide feedback on Martin Zubimendi

14 members of the Arsenal squad are on international duty for the March action, with Mikel Merino and David Raya linking up with Zubimendi for Spain.

The Arsenal transfer target started both of Spain’s games against the Netherlands over the break, with Spanish media giving the midfielder some encouraging feedback after the second leg.

When analysing Zubimendi’s performance, AS put one rarely spoken-about strength of the Real Sociedad ace under the spotlight.

The publication noted that Zubimendi, ‘not only’ cut up play well, but was also able to act as a playmaker from the number six role.

“He not only cut well but also generated some play, although he tends to be conservative with the ball at his feet.”

Data gathered by Sofascore during the match will support AS’s evaluation of the player, who played one key pass and completed 97% of his passes in general.

The feedback from the Arsenal target’s game will be music to Arteta’s ears, who could solve several issues by acquiring the 26-year-old this summer.

Arsenal need creativity from midfield

Though the protagonist of the Gunners’ shortcomings this season has been Arsenal’s injury list, there are other problems for Arteta to solve.

One of which is how much his team are creating, paired with who could finish such chances.

Before the international break, it was suggested that Arsenal are still missing Granit Xhaka, due to the intricate style the Switzerland international offered in midfield.

Arsenal have lacked a creative spark in the middle since the midfielder departed and now, there’s a chance that Zubimendi can fill such void.

Arteta will be well aware of Zubimendi’s skill set, with the Spaniard’s future something to watch ahead of the transfer window opening.
