Arsenal picked up a 3-1 win over Southampton just before the international break.

The Gunners remain unbeaten in all competitions this season despite all the injury issues they have had. It hasn’t been ideal at all for Mikel Arteta, but his side are still in a great position.

Against Southampton, Arsenal were made to work really hard. Yes, they were dominant from the first minute of the game, but it was the visitors who took the lead in the second half.

The North Londoners had to come from behind to get the win, and the mood around the club is great as a result. However, if Arsenal had dropped points in that game, one player would’ve come under a ton of criticism.

Why Mikel Arteta was upset with Gabriel Jesus during Arsenal vs Southampton

Gabriel Jesus got a rare start for Arsenal against Southampton at the Emirates.

The Brazilian is nowhere near the top of Arteta’s pecking order any more. Kai Havertz is usually the undisputed number one up top, while Leandro Trossard is also ahead of Jesus.

However, in a bid to rest players, Arteta gave Jesus a go against the Saints, but his performance was a disappointing one despite a bright start.

At one moment in the first half, Jesus had the opportunity to send Saka through on goal. It was a great opportunity to help Arsenal get the lead but the Brazilian decided to cut back on his right foot and slowed the play down.

Saka was absolutely furious with Jesus for not playing him in, and a new Bench Cam video released by Arsenal shows that Arteta wasn’t happy either.

The Arsenal boss could be seen with his arms up in the air, clearly frustrated that his number nine decided against passing the ball to Saka.

Thankfully, that decision did not end up costing Arsenal.

Arsenal have a big Gabriel Jesus decision to make

Arsenal signed Jesus for £45 million from Manchester City in the summer of 2022.

The Brazilian was viewed by many as a brilliant signing, and his first few months in the famous red and white were unbelievable.

However, Jesus has looked nothing like that since after the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Injuries are one of the reasons why, but he has struggled even when he has been fit.

If Jesus does not get back to his best in the coming months, Arteta and Edu will have to make a decision on his future. You can’t justify paying Jesus a salary of £265,000-a-week for those performances.

We think the next few months could be Jesus’ last at Arsenal.
