Neymar Jr is liking what he’s seeing at Arsenal, watching on from thousands of miles away in Santos.

During his time in Europe, Neymar faced the Gunners twice, winning on both occasions in the 2015/16 Champions League.

Now playing for his boyhood club, Santos, in Brazil, the winger has been keeping tabs on one story that’s unfolding at Arsenal, following the recovery of one of his international teammates.

Neymar has shown support for Gabriel Jesus before and was one of many to comment on the striker’s latest update on his road to recovery after suffering an ACL injury.

Neymar sends a message to Gabriel Jesus as training video emerges

Arsenal can’t wait for Jesus’ return, as the 28-year-old’s injury came at a terrible time, as he had just started to rebuild his confidence.

Having been out since January, Jesus is finally nearing his return to action, putting in the work behind the scenes in what has been a gruelling journey to recovery after surgery.

After Arsenal’s Carabao Cup win over Brighton, the striker posted a video of himself in training on Instagram, teasing his readiness to return to the Arsenal squad

Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka and William Saliba were amongst those to like the post, and in the comments, Neymar also reacted.

“Vamooooo,” the Brazilian icon said, clearly excited to see the Arsenal star getting back in the groove in front of goal.

During his time on the sidelines, it has been speculated that the striker could actually join Neymar in Brazil, with Palmeiras eager to sign Jesus, their former academy graduate.

For the player, full focus is on returning to the pitch at Arsenal, where he’ll only further strengthen Mikel Arteta’s options in attack.

Unclear whether Jesus has a role to play at Arsenal

Based on footballing terms only, Jesus’ return will be welcomed, as the former Manchester City star’s profile is unlike anything Arteta has in his squad.

That being said, it’s been reported that Arsenal are willing to sell Jesus in the winter market, which would free up the expense of his £265k-a-week wage.

Jesus is one of the highest-paid players in the Arsenal squad, but, by no fault of his own, his contribution to the team over the years doesn’t reflect that.

It’s cruel that the striker’s form has largely been out of his hands, having suffered numerous injuries since signing for the Gunners in 2022.

It will be interesting to see where Jesus stands at Arsenal once he returns, with the Brazilian having the ability to offer a completely new dimension to Arteta’s attack, if there is space.
