Arsenal have had many incredible players represent them in the Premier League era.
From icons like Ian Wright, Dennis Bergkamp and Thierry Henry to superstars like Robin van Persie, Alexis Sanchez and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, several elite names have donned the famous red and white.
However, none of them has made it into WhoScored’s Ultimate Premier League XI based on ratings from a single season.
The only Arsenal representative, surprisingly, is Cesc Fabregas.

Cesc Fabregas is the only Arsenal player included in the Ultimate Premier League XI
Fabregas was absolutely incredible during his time at Arsenal.
The Spaniard was given his debut by Arsene Wenger when he was just a teenager, and he was even named the captain at a relatively young age.
Fabregas was up there with the best midfielders in Europe, and it’s not a surprise that he was named in a few Premier League Team of the Seasons back in the day.
What is definitely a surprise, however, is the fact that he is the only Arsenal player included in WhoScored’s Ultimate Team of the Season.
The side is based on the highest-rated individual season by a player in every position across the pitch since WhoScored began collecting data, and Fabregas’ 8.25/10 rating in 2009/10 got him the nod.
The now-Como manager was absolutely incredible for Arsenal that season.
He scored 15 goals and provided 15 assists in 27 Premier League games and finished the campaign with 38 direct goal contributions in 36 appearances in all competitions.
Fabregas missed the final two months of the season due to a fractured fibula. One can only wonder how much better his numbers would’ve been had he remained fit the whole campaign.

Fabregas was a fan favourite throughout his time at Arsenal.
The midfielder was easily the best player in the side, and some of his performances in an era when the Gunners had lost their best stars were out of this world.
However, Fabregas chose to force his way out of Arsenal to join Barcelona in 2011, and just a few years later, he returned to England and joined Chelsea.
That ruined his hopes of ever becoming a legend of the club, and even though some fans still adore him, he will never be spoken about in the same breath as the likes of Henry, Bergkamp and other icons.
Perhaps that will change if he ever returns to Arsenal as a manager and wins it all. Whether the fans would accept him back, however, remains to be seen.
