Patrick Vieira was part of the last Arsenal team to win the Premier League title and he had some words of concern after seeing the Gunners beat Chelsea.

Vieira looked on from the Sky Sports studio and saw goals from William Saliba and Jurrien Timber do the business.

However, after Yaya Toure spoke of his disappointment in Arsenal, former skipper Vieira also suggested the Gunners need to do more.

Patrick Vieira ‘a little disappointed’ as Arsenal beat Chelsea

Patrick Vieira knows how to win a title and he knows how to lead a team when the pressure ramps up.

Seeing Arsenal sneak past Chelsea today pleased him and he was delighted with the win. However, he believes the pressure is affecting Arsenal’s performances.

“I think from the Arsenal point of view what really matters is the three points. It is really important for them. When you look at the game a bit deeper, scoring from set-plays, the game was more open than we expected. You would expect Arsenal to go a little more forward,” Vieira commented for Sky Sports.

“Chelsea were organised well defensively which stopped Arsenal from creating chances. When you are top of the Champions League table, top of the Premier League table, in the final of a cup, the expectation is higher. You expect more from this Arsenal.

“I am a little bit disappointed but what matters is to win. It’s not about the style because I think the style can be down to the fact they haven’t won the title in so long. There could be a little desperation and stress because they want to do so well that you are not taking the risks you are at the start of the season.

“Looking at where they are, a little bit of nervousness and pressure can have an impact on these games. I believe there is enough experience, quality, personality, to go on the field and win the game.”

Patrick Vieira’s comments in line with Ian Wright’s concerns

Everyone associated with Arsenal and a lot of former players are so desperate to see the club win the title this season.

The likes of Vieira, Dennis Bergkamp, and Ian Wright have all backed the Gunners.

However, Vieira’s concerns mirror those of Wright. Speaking after the game, Wright admitted Arsenal need to kill games quicker.

Chelsea, once they went down to 10 men, they started to play. It was worrying,” Wright commented.

“Arsenal showing those nerves, those jittery nerves at the latter stages of games, they need to take the opportunities earlier on so they can relax at this stage. They have to just win now, especially the home games. It’s not going to be something that instills you with loads of confidence but it’s a win.”

For now, it’s working out fine for the Gunners. But with the pressure continuing to build, the wins get increasingly difficult to seal.
