Arsenal could be left frustrated after reports have emerged about the PGMOL’s stance on Myles Lewis-Skelly’s controversial red card against Wolves.
It came after a tie that was overshadowed by the refereeing decisions made by Michael Oliver throughout the match.
In the first half, Myles Lewis-Skelly was shown a red card for his challenge on a Wolves forward bursting to make a counter-attack.
It came as a baffling moment, with many expecting a yellow card to be shown, with the tackle deemed to be “serious foul play” from the Arsenal man.
Arsenal fans were furious with Oliver and the decision to reduce them to ten men, but the drama didn’t stop there.
Joao Gomes was shown a second yellow card, evening out the number of players for each team and giving the Gunners a chance.
It was one they took through Riccardo Calafiori, but the focus was still firmly placed on the decision to send off Lewis-Skelly.

PGMOL stand by Michael Oliver’s red card decisions vs Arsenal
While Mikel Arteta may be hoping to see the red card overturned on appeal, the latest reports suggest that may not happen.
That’s because according to Darren Lewis of The Mirror, the PGMOL are standing by Michael Oliver’s decision.
Speaking on Sky Sports, the reporter said: “I know that the PGMOL’s position is that the challenge was extremely late and the point of contact was high, that’s their position.
“They were supportive of Michael Oliver and Darren England, they felt that Darren had seen nothing in the replays – and again, don’t shoot the messenger – they suggest that Darren had seen nothing in the replays to suggest that the decision taken by Michael Oliver was wrong.
“So that’s why they were supportive of both men.”
It suggests that, perhaps, the hope of an appeal against the coming ban for Lewis-Skelly is unlikely to be successful.
As a result, it remains to be seen if Arsenal do lodge that appeal at the risk of further suspension or if they accept the decision.

What matches will Myles Lewis-Skelly miss for Arsenal after red card?
So if Lewis-Skelly’s red card isn’t overturned, then he is set for something of a lengthy suspension due to the rules.
A straight red card for serious foul play carries a ban of at least three games for players, which would be a huge blow for Arsenal.
The suspension carries across domestic – but not European – competition which means he would be missing for two Premier League matches and one Carabao Cup game.
