Arsenal might be set for a quiet January but they could still be set to make some money thanks to a previous transfer deal.
While the Gunners are keen on Marc Guehi, it is expected to be an otherwise quiet month for the Premier League table toppers.
Andrea Berta will be keeping a close eye on the market and if the right deal comes up, then he’ll no doubt act – both in terms of ins and outs.
What changes would you make to our predicted Arsenal XI vs Portsmouth?
However, while Berta is the man overseeing things right now, it is a deal done by his predecessor Edu Gaspar that looks set to land the Gunners a welcome cash boost.
Arsenal set to profit as Nuno Tavares lined up for £15m transfer
The name of Nuno Tavares might well send shivers down the spine of some Arsenal fans.
The left-back was just never good enough during his time at The Emirates and ultimately, he was shipped out on a loan deal to Lazio by Edu, before signing a permanent deal in the summer of 2025 when Berta stepped into the fold.

Now, though, Tavares is on the move again and Arsenal could land £5m.
According to Alfredo Pedulla – who quote Besiktas’ President – Tavares is set to move to the Turkish side for around £15m. And thanks to Arsenal inserting a 35% sell-on clause into their Lazio deal, it means the Gunners will pocket a nice chunk of change.
With Berta tasked with making Arsenal a better selling club as well as an attractive proposition for new players, this Tavares deal shows the club do have other ways of bringing finance in longer-term.
Nuno Tavares’ form since leaving Arsenal
It’s safe to say that Tavares was one of the more disappointing signings in the last few years.
A number of loan spells have followed for the Portuguese left-back and he now looks like he’s finally going to get a permanent switch to settle down.
In terms of his form, he’s managed to play semi-regularly since leaving the club.
Sum up Nuno Tavares’ disastrous spell at Arsenal in FIVE words or less…
His best spell came at Marseille where he scored six goals in 39 appearances in France, before a more disappointing spell with Nottingham Forest followed the season after.
Nevertheless, he has hit the 40 appearance mark for Lazio in the last 12 months and looks to have earned a good move to Turkey.
After Arsenal paid £7m for him initially, getting a £5m return a year after selling him seems like a positive outcome.
