Pundit says one Arsenal star would start over huge Klopp favourite at Liverpool

Arsenal star Ben White has gone from strength to strength since his arrival two years ago, and it has now been claimed that he would start for Liverpool.

Liverpool have Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back, and given that he is one of the best in the world in his position, it is a big statement that White is in the same conversation as him.

However, pundit Robbie Savage has now sung White’s praises, claiming that he would get into Jurgen Klopp’s side, and even encouraged Liverpool to make a move for the 25-year-old.

Robbie Savage claims Ben White would start for Liverpool

Speaking on BBC Radio Five Live after Arsenal’s Champions League victory over Sevilla, Savage highlighted White as someone Liverpool should target.

“Would Ben White make Liverpool stronger in that position? I think he has played the majority at right-back for Arsenal. Ben White would be first-choice,” he stated.

“How much would he cost? They paid £50m for him, and he is playing in a team that challenged Man City last season and only lost one game in the league this season, how much would he cost?”

Arsenal will not sell Ben White

Although Savage is right to point out that Ben White is an excellent player who would arguably improve most teams in Europe, there is little chance Arsenal will sell White any time soon, particularly to a rival.

The defender is closing in on a new contract at the club, and is a big favourite of Mikel Arteta. The Englishman has delivered exceptional performances at both centre-back and right-back and is a key component of Arteta’s system, and one of the first names on the teamsheet.

It is easy to see why White would suit Liverpool, given his ability on the ball, his more defensive style than Alexander-Arnold, and his versatility, but Klopp will have to look elsewhere if he is keen on a defender.
