Rio Ferdinand is confident that Eberechi Eze has just found his best position at Arsenal in the number ten role, and Thierry Henry has backed that up.

Eberechi Eze scored three goals against Tottenham over the weekend to help fire the Gunners six points clear at the top of the Premier League.

Eberechi Eze’s North London Derby hat-trick

Following a slow start to life at Arsenal, Eze burst into life at the Emirates in the North London derby, sending a clear message to Mikel Arteta.

The two Premier League legends have been discussing Arsenal’s hat-trick hero and believe his best position is central.

Rio Ferdinand thinks Eberechi Eze’s best position at Arsenal is in the number ten

Rio Ferdinand believes that Eze’s best position at Arsenal is in the number ten position, and Thierry Henry has already agreed.

The ex-Manchester United star claimed Eze can best influence a game by playing in a more central role, as opposed to being stuck at left wing.

During the international break, Eze impressed for England playing on the left, but that has just been blown out of the water following his display against Spurs.

What position suits Eberechi Eze best at Arsenal?

The former defender said on Rio Ferdinand Presents: “I look at him and go, what’s his super strength? First and foremost, I agree with Thierry Henry, play him centrally, you get the best out of him, and he’ll influence the team, right? Agree. And he’s going to be a better player and give you better output in that sense.

“But his super strength is that his ability just to take the ball in tight areas and ghost people, move people out of the way and then be able to play that next pass.”

Not only did the winger stake his claim to start for Arsenal, but Eze has also made it clear he could start for England at next summer’s World Cup.

The 27-year-old faces strong competition from Jude Bellingham, Cole Palmer and Phil Foden to start in the number ten role, but he’s now right in that conversation.

Martin Odegaard now faces an uphill battle at Arsenal

Bellingham, Palmer and Foden won’t be the only players worried about Eze’s display, as so will Martin Odegaard.

Currently, Odegaard is out injured and is gradually making his way back; however, the Arsenal captain now faces a real challenge to regain his place in the team.

Both players could, of course, start alongside one another, and the importance of having both has just been highlighted following Odegaard’s injury.

Who starts in the number 10 role for Arsenal when both fit?

But with Leandro Trossard in great form at left wing, Eze can’t just be moved there, leaving him and Odegaard to fight it out for the number ten role.
