Rio Ferdinand says Arsenal have a ‘ridiculous’ player who doesn’t get the credit he deserves

After watching the North London Derby, Rio Ferdinand came to an interesting conclusion about one of Mikel Arteta’s signings.

Arsenal beat Tottenham 4-1 in a mesmerising North London Derby for the hosts, as Eberechi Eze stole the show with a hat-trick.

It wasn’t only the playmaker who had a performance to remember, as fellow goalscorer Leandro Trossard also starred.

Trossard impressed an Invincible with his two-goal contribution display against Spurs, which also caught Rio Ferdinand’s attention.

Rio Ferdinand says Arsenal fans don’t appreciate Leandro Trossard enough

As Tottenham showcased some very conservative tactics, Arsenal were forced to think outside the box, which they quite literally did.

Mikel Merino played a beautiful lofted ball on the edge of the box to Trossard to open the scoring, with the Belgian stepping up to open the floodgates.

While Eze earned the headlines, Ferdinand wanted to put Trossard under the spotlight when analysing Arsenal’s win on the Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast.

“You got Trossard, who has been ridiculous,” Ferdinand said.

“He doesn’t get the love he deserves from the Arsenal fans, by the way, because his goal contribution since he’s signed, only Saka’s got more.”

Is Leandro Trossard Arsenal’s most underrated player?

Ferdinand has questioned Arsenal fans’ treatment of players before, and now, he simply wants more appreciation shown to Trossard.

After comparing the 30-year-old’s form in the final third to Bukayo Saka’s, the Manchester United icon shed light on the type of goals Trossard produces.

“By the way, the important goals he scores, whether it be an equaliser, whether it be a late winner, his input, it’s been a joke, so I think he needs massive, massive props.”

Arsenal fans won’t argue with Ferdinand, who only said what others have been thinking in the wake of the North London Derby.

Clinton Morrison said Trossard is ‘undervalued’ at Arsenal, and after what happened in the summer transfer window, it’s clear to see how that conclusion has arisen.

Mikel Arteta said Trossard leaving Arsenal in the summer was ‘forbidden’

It was only months ago that Arsenal fans were upset that Trossard was offered a new deal at the club.

Fast-forward to now, and the winger is undroppable, having contributed to ten goals in all competitions.

Mikel Arteta on Leandro Trossard’s transfer status

“For me, it was forbidden for him to leave. No chance. I know the player that he is, surrounded with the players that we have, he’s a player that is going to make a difference for us.”

Fans have been left red-faced by Trossard’s recent form, but Arteta always knew his importance to the squad.

There will be no complaints about the Arsenal manager’s decision now, as Trossard continues to shine.
