Arsenal retain their status as the best team in North London after beating Tottenham Hotspur again.

The Gunners had a number of injury issues going into the game, but that didn’t stop them from dominating Spurs from the first minute until the last.

The 2-1 scoreline makes the game look like it was a tight one, but Arsenal actually deserved to win about 5-1 – they were that good, especially in the first half.

One player, in particular, performed brilliantly, and Rio Ferdinand has had his say on him.

Rio Ferdinand says Myles Lewis-Skelly ‘was playing like he ‘played like he wasn’t interested’ vs Tottenham

Myles Lewis-Skelly was the star of the show as Arsenal beat Tottenham on Wednesday night.

The teenager has been popular among Arsenal fans for a couple of years, but he is now making a fantastic name for himself across the country.

Lewis-Skelly became the youngest Arsenal player since Cesc Fabregas in 2005 to start a North London Derby on Wednesday night.

He was absolutely incredible, and Manchester United legend Ferdinand, who knows a thing or two about defending, raved about him.

Speaking on TNT Sports while covering the game, Ferdinand said: “I’ll tell you another player who I have been pleasantly surprised, I think – Myles Lewis Skelly!

“18 years old, composed, North London Derby. I love seeing young kids come into games like this and treat it like it’s any game at school.”

While speaking about a moment in the second half when Lewis-Skelly acted disinterested before intercepting a pass from Brennan Johnson, Ferdinand added: “You know what he has done there?

“He played like he wasn’t interested. He played like he wasn’t interested then he pounced and read the ball beautifully.”

The next big step for Myles Lewis-Skelly after North London Derby heroics

Lewis-Skelly has now cemented his place in the Arsenal first-team.

The 18-year-old’s performances have been so good that he should even be starting ahead of Riccardo Calafiori.

We’re convinced that Lewis-Skelly is Arsenal’s first-choice left-back now, and we won’t be surprised at all if he gets the England nod soon as well.

New Three Lions boss Thomas Tuchel was in attendance at the Emirates Stadium to watch the North London Derby, and we’re sure he would’ve been impressed by Lewis-Skelly’s performance.

England have had a problem at left-back for a while now, and we think Lewis-Skelly is the man to solve that in the coming months. That is the next step for the youngster.
