A round-up of the latest Arsenal news including reaction to Bukayo Saka’s Euro 2024 exploits, the latest on Nuno Tavares’ future and transfer updates on a pursuit of Eddie Nketiah from abroad.

Arsenal and England fans are lauding Bukayo Saka for his solid performance as England booked their spot in Sunday’s Euro 2024 final against Spain.

After Saka had a goal disallowed for Man City’s Kyle Walker being offside, Ollie Watkins scored a superb 90th winner as Gareth Southgate’s side came from a goal behind to beat the Netherlands 2-1 in Dortmund.

Fresh from high praise from England legend David Beckham, Saka was once again one of the brightest lights in attack in the quarter-final, while his defensive work was also noticed.

One supporter said: “It’s actually comical how much better Bukayo Saka is than everyone else on the pitch at all times, no matter where he’s asked to play.”

An Arsenal and England fan added: “One things for sure Bukayo Saka is the face of English football!”

It was a mixed night for Declan Rice in midfield. Overall a solid display, but some Arsenal fans expressed concern over what they saw in his performance given the standards that he has at the Emirates.

Eddie Nketiah subject to interest from French club

In a surprising twist, the latest reports surrounding Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah suggest that he is attracting interest from a club in France.

All eyes are on who else Edu Gaspar and Mikel Arteta will bring in during the summer transfer window, but there will be hopes to recoup a lot of the funds by selling Aaron Ramsdale and Eddie Nketiah after it was made clear that he doesn’t have a future at the club.

Now managed by former Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi, Marseille have joined a number of teams said to be interested in the striker, with reports claiming that Premier League trio Crystal Palace, Fulham and Wolves are all keen to sign Nketiah.

FootMercato revealed that Marseille are studying the possibility of signing Nketiah this summer as De Zerbi looks to strengthen his new side’s attack. However, Arsenal have a price in mind they would like to see for the 25-year-old.

Nketiah’s current contract at Arsenal expires in the summer of 2027, but is keen on the prospect of joining up with De Zerbi.

Mikel Arteta stance on Nuno Tavares’ future

Despite the recent comments from Nuno Tavares, Mikel Arteta has already made it clear that he is not in his plans for this upcoming pre-season. In fact, Arteta has already taken a group of Arsenal players to a training camp in Marbella and there is no sign of the left-back.

That speaks volumes about where the boss stands. Tavares spent last season on loan with Nottingham Forest, but failed to fulfil hopes at the City Ground.

As quoted by Sport Witness, the 24-year-old recently stated that he’s not ready to give up just yet: “Yes, obviously, I have in mind to return to Arsenal and have a good pre-season.

“I always try to do my work in the best way, then it’s up to the club to decide whether I’m a valid option or not, but I have a strong mentality. I know what I’m capable of.”

Since those comments, Football Italia have reported that Arsenal were in discussions with Lazio over a deal.

Fabrizio Romano has also now revealed that a loan move with an obligation to buy has been agreed.

“Arsenal have accepted Lazio final proposal to sign Nuno Tavares on loan with obligation to buy, fee around €7/8m (£5.9m/6.7m). Arsenal will also have sell-on clause. Negotiations are ongoing with Tavares agents on personal terms,” he posted on X.
