Arsenal hero Santi Cazorla is still loving his football as he stars for his boyhood club Real Oviedo in La Liga 2.

The 40-year-old playmaker re-joined the Spanish side in the hopes of taking them back to the top tier before he retires.

While in the latter half of his career, there is no question of the quality that Santi Cazorla possesses in abundance.

Arsenal fans saw plenty of it during the Arsene Wenger days, but even all these years later, the experienced star is shocking supporters by rolling back the years.

Santi Cazorla shocks Arsenal fans by scoring a weak-foot goal for Real Oviedo in the playoffs

After another intense season, Cazorla helped Real Oviedo finish third in the Segunda Division in Spain, narrowly missing out on automatic promotion.

His team finished on 75 points during the league campaign, four points behind the league winners and two points behind those who finished in second place.

It meant the play-offs awaited Oviedo, with Cazorla having to draw on all of his experience to help the side get through.

Almeria awaited in the semi-finals, with a 2-1 win away from home in the first leg giving Oviedo the advantage.

That was pegged back in the first half of the second leg as Gonzalo Melero scored from the penalty spot to bring it level on aggregate.

However, just before the break, Cazorla was up to his old tricks as he scored an equaliser on the night from a free-kick.

Using his “weaker” left foot, the former Arsenal man smashed an effort into the back of the net, which ended up being the eventual winner.

It’s not quite a new trick, as Cazorla used to take corners with both feet, something that used to excite supporters as it offered a variation of deliveries.

Even all these years on, the playmaker has fans talking about his quality on social media as one supporter said: “Santi Cazorla is the goat.”

Praise continued to flood in as one fan said: “Oh how I miss Santi Cazorla.”

“Did Cazorla just score a free kick with his left?” another fan questioned. “I miss him.”

“THIS IS A WEAK FOOT FREE KICK & Santi Cazorla is 40 years old scoring for his boyhood team,” another supporter said.

“Cazorla, the most 2-footed player I’ve ever seen at Arsenal. Magician,” was another claim.

As Cazorla and Oviedo look to make their way back to La Liga, it remains to be seen exactly who they could come up against in the final.

Santi Cazorla discusses his football dream with Real Oviedo

While Cazorla has achieved plenty during his football career, perhaps promotion with Oviedo would be where he would take the most pride.

He explained as much after helping his side reach the final of the play-offs, telling the press: “This will be the most beautiful achievement for me, for my family and friends, because I grew up here and I have deep feelings for this club.

“I’m not thinking about playing in Primera yet. I want to see how I feel and what the club wants first.”

It could well be a fairytale end to Cazorla’s career in the next few weeks, but all attention is on whether they can win that final.
