Mikel Arteta could be about to do something at Arsenal that could really upset Myles Lewis-Skelly

Arsenal star Myles Lewis-Skelly is one of the best young players in the world.

The 18-year-old got an opportunity in the Gunners’ first team after impressing in pre-season last year, and he hasn’t looked back since.

Lewis-Skelly was so good every time he played that he became Arsenal’s first-choice left-back ahead of more experienced stars like Riccardo Calafiori, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Kieran Tierney.

The Hale End star has done enough to keep his place at left-back next season, but Arsenal may be planning to do something now that could change things.

Arsenal renew their interest in Jorrel Hato

Jorrel Hato has been on Arsenal’s radar for a long time.

The Dutchman is a phenomenal talent, and his development at Ajax over the last two seasons has been exceptional.

Hato will end up at a bigger club sooner or later, but many Arsenal fans felt that they don’t need him anymore after Lewis-Skelly’s emergence.

However, Fabrizio Romano revealed on Wednesday that Arsenal have called Ajax again for Hato and have asked to be kept informed about his situation.

That suggests that the Gunners are still interested in signing him this summer, which is very strange considering the players who are already at the club.

Arsenal risk upsetting Myles Lewis-Skelly if they sign Jorrel Hato

Hato played 50 times for Ajax last season, and almost all of his appearances came at left-back.

The Dutchman can play in central defence as well, but his main role now is out wide at the back, and that is where his future likely lies.

Arsenal already have Myles Lewis-Skelly thriving in that position, and he has done enough – domestically as well as against big teams in Europe – to start next season there.

If Mikel Arteta decides to bring in Hato for big money, when Arsenal already have Calafiori, there is a chance that Lewis-Skelly will be upset, as it would suggest a lack of trust.

That is the last thing Arsenal need right now, especially when an agreement with Lewis-Skelly over a new deal has not been reached yet.
