Steve Bruce says something ‘ridiculous’ happened in Burnley vs Arsenal and it keeps happening

Steve Bruce was bemused by something that happened in Arsenal’s game against Burnley, which he feels keeps happening.

The Gunners cruised to yet another victory on Saturday afternoon at Turf Moor, thanks to goals from Viktor Gyokeres and Declan Rice.

Scott Parker was full of praise for Arsenal after the game, claiming that he believes that the North Londoners have ‘every ingredient’ needed to win the Premier League.

Mikel Arteta’s side are certainly in a strong position to finally lift this piece of silverware that has eluded them for so many years, as they moved seven points clear at the top of the table with the win over Burnley.

Steve Bruce thinks it’s ‘ridiculous’ that nobody can defend Arsenal’s set-pieces

Arsenal have now scored eight goals from corners in the Premier League this season.

They became the first team in the league’s history to manage this feat after Gyokeres nodded home from close range against Burnley.

The goal was derived from Rice swinging a typically excellent ball to the back post, before Gabriel Magalhaes superbly played it back across goal.

This combination between Rice and Gabriel has become a prominent feature of Arsenal’s play, and teams simply aren’t able to prevent it from happening.

Steve Bruce was incensed by the ease with which the Gunners seem to be able to score from corners and the opposition’s continued inability to defend them.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, the former Premier League manager couldn’t quite believe how much teams seem to struggle to prevent Arsenal’s dead-ball threat.

“How often do we see this?” he said.

“This corner kick, it’s ridiculous that nobody seems to be able to defend against it. Ball to the far post, headed back across, and Gyokeres will never have an easier chance.

“Classic overload and back across again. How often do we see set pieces with what Arsenal have to offer?”

The opposition won’t be able to stop Arsenal’s set-pieces

As much as teams can closely analyse what Arsenal do from set-pieces, they won’t be able to stop them.

The primary reason the Gunners continually score from corners and free-kicks is not Nicolas Jover’s innovative ideas, but the talent that they have at their disposal.

Rice and Bukayo Saka’s deliveries are outstanding, while Gabriel is the most dangerous player in world football when a ball is swung into the box.

As long as Rice and Saka continue to deliver and Gabriel is on the pitch, then the Gunners will keep scoring and there’s very little the opposition can do about it.
