Former Premier League manager Steve Bruce is not buying into what he’s hearing about Arsenal.

It’s been a fantastic week for Arsenal, who booked their spot in the Carabao Cup final after beating Chelsea in the semi-final.

Mikel Arteta will return to Wembley with the Gunners for the first time in six years; however, his primary focus is on the Premier League.

Pressure is on for Arsenal to win the Premier League this season, something the North Londoners are on course to achieve, sitting six points clear with 13 games to go.

Even Arsenal’s deserved lead at the summit isn’t enough to impress, however.

Agree or disagree, if Arsenal do not win the league it would be the greatest failure in the club’s history

Steve Bruce slams Paul Scholes’ comments about Arsenal

Paul Scholes loves sharing bold opinions about Arsenal.

The pundit’s latest comment about the Gunners was arguably his most questionable, as he claimed that if Arsenal are to win the Premier League, they’d be the ‘worst’ team to do it.

Ian Wright tore into Scholes for his petulant opinion, and now, Steve Bruce has done the same.

Scholes became a discussion point on talkSPORT, and Arsenal fans will love what Bruce had to say.

“Scholesy, we hear more Scholesy now than we’ve ever done, don’t we? And it’s great to listen to him, but if he’s going to come with nonsense like that,” Bruce said.

He added, “I have to disagree with him. I think this Arsenal team, you wouldn’t want to play them, would you?”

Bruce is spot on, as no team wants to play Arsenal, and that doesn’t just apply to the Premier League, but the whole of Europe, too.

Scholes’ comment does come with some irony, as when assessing who the actual ‘worst’ Premier League champions have been based on low points tallies, his beloved Manchester United are the headliners.

Man United make up four of the top five lowest points tallies from Premier League title winners, and funnily enough, Scholes was part of every squad.

Steve Bruce is a fan of Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz

Moving away from the negatives of Scholes’ comments and focusing on the success that Arsenal are experiencing, Bruce was eager to celebrate the Gunners.

“They’ve got a little bit of everything. They’ve got a physicality about them. They’ve got some sparkle when they need it. They’ve got outstanding players and depth,” Bruce said.

Fans, players, the manger, Arsenal seem targeted, but how do YOU feel about it?

The former manager then named two Arsenal players he particularly likes: Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz.

“I’m sure Saka would get in any team, I have to tell you,” he admitted.

“I’ve always been a Havertz fan. I don’t know why, but I’ve always been a bit of a Havertz fan, that he can always perform at the top level.”

It was deserved praise from Bruce for the Gunners, who have received a perplexing amount of unjust criticism this season.
