Arsenal will be expecting to strengthen this summer and Steven Gerrard believes Mikel Arteta will want fresh blood in a key attacking area.
The Gunners are the Premier League’s top goalscorers with 61 goals but there is a widely shared opinion among fans that a new attacker will be signed.
Now, according to former Liverpool skipper Gerrard, it could well be that Gabriel Martinelli is the man to make way for a new signing at The Emirates.
Steven Gerrard thinks Gabriel Martinelli could be replaced at Arsenal
Arsenal’s squad is not too far away from being more or less perfect but there is a strong argument to suggest a little bit more impact in the final third would elevate them further.
Gabriel Martinelli has not put up the numbers many expected, scoring just the single Premier League goal all season.

Indeed, because of that, Gerrard believes Arsenal could look to strengthen down that left side.
“I think they’ll go for someone on the left, maybe,” Gerrard said on TNT Sports.
“I think Martinelli hasn’t been as good as he was previously. Trossard is a good player, but it’s an area, how do you get that team better?”
The wingers Arsenal are already being linked with
Arsenal’s transfer hierarchy will be well aware of what areas of the squad need improvement this summer and in fairness, if reports are to be believed, a few wingers are already on the radar.
Anthony Gordon has been mentioned for some time now, while PSG star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is also getting a mention.
The signing of Kvaratskhelia would be a massive one. The Georgian is undoubtedly one of the best in the world in his position and he instantly elevates Arsenal.
Of course, a £100m+ figure for him plus the fact PSG don’t need to sell makes that one tricky.
Still, it’s interesting that Gerrard has spotted this gap in the team and it would be no surprise if a left winger is signed.
