Steven Gerrard believes that Viktor Gyokeres, Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka are the three Arsenal players who could hurt PSG in the Champions League final.
The North London club will have a shot at making history on May 30 when they face Paris Saint-Germain in the European Cup final.
Mikel Arteta’s team eliminated Atletico Madrid with relative ease; meanwhile, the defending European champions saw off Bayern Munich to book their ticket to Budapest.
Speaking ahead of the final, Gerrard has been speaking about the Arsenal players who could be key towards winning the match.
Steven Gerrard says Bukayo Saka will be key for Arsenal
Steven Gerrard says Bukayo Saka’s return to full fitness is massive for Arsenal, and the winger will be key in the Champions League final against PSG.
Saka has scored key goals against Atletico Madrid and Fulham since making his return, and it’s clear he will play a key role in what could be a historic month for the Gunners.
Gerrard told TNT Sports: “Yeah, Saka’s return is huge. You look at the Arsenal team, you think, well, how can it hurt this PSG team? And you’d have to say that he would be the go-to man, Saka.”
The former Champions League winner from 2005 has also highlighted Gabriel Martinelli and Viktor Gyokeres as players who are going to be key against the European champions.
Gyokeres has looked much improved over recent weeks; meanwhile, Martinelli’s speed on the counter-attack will be key for Arteta’s side.
👀 Do we all owe Viktor Gyokeres an apology after his performances against Fulham and Atletico?
👏 Three goals in three games and three top performances!
“Gyokeres is getting a bit of confidence, a bit of belief, and he’s certainly come to the party in the last couple of weeks,” added Gerrard.
“But I think it’s key they have Saka fit and available, try and get Martinelli going in good form as well because you’re going to need that speed on the counterattack at times.
“But Arsenal are going to need every single player to be at the very, very best to win that Champions League.”
PSG managed to keep one of the best attacks in Europe at bay for 90 minutes in Bayern Munich, so Arsenal will need to be at their very best in Budapest.
