The hilarious thing benched Arsenal star Aaron Ramsdale did to the referee v Liverpool

Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale was spotted berating referee Anthony Taylor from the bench on Sunday.

Aaron Ramsdale was forced to make do with a view from the bench as Arsenal reignited their Premier League title push with a 3-1 victory over league leaders Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium yesterday.

The win took Mikel Arteta’s side to within two points of the Reds and underlined their title credentials as they were worthy winners on the day.

Whilst the hosts dominated much of the match, there were still one or two nervy and fractious moments. For instance, with just 30 minutes on the clock, and Arsenal 1-0 up thanks to Bukayo Saka’s opener, Ben White was booked for time wasting by referee Anthony Taylor as he dallied over a free-kick.

Whilst the Arsenal right-back was certainly taking his time over the set-piece, it is unusual to see a player carded for such an offence so early on in the match, and unsurprisingly the decision was not a popular one with the Emirates Stadium faithful.

Moments later, the match was held up again, this time by Taylor himself. The official suffered a technical fault with some of his communications equipment, and the game was briefly paused whilst he had the matter dealt with on the sideline.

Whilst Taylor was seeing to this issue, Ramsdale was seen expressing his frustration with the hold up. As noted by The 44, the 25-year-old was visible on the bench, screaming at Taylor to “hurry up,” along with some other more coarse language.

Whilst amusing, the incident also serves to underline Ramsdale’s commitment to and emotional investment in the Arsenal cause, despite his present personal circumstances at the club.

Soon after David Raya’s summer arrival at the Emirates Stadium, Ramsdale lost his regular starting berth in the team. He has since spoken out about the pain that this demotion caused him.

It is clear that he has no long-term future at the club. In fact, Arsenal are aware that it is “inevitable” that Ramsdale will leave this summer. 

Until then, though, the four-cap England international is clearly still desperate to see the club achieve success on the pitch, even if his personal level of involvement is fairly minimal. He was eager for the game against Liverpool to flow, especially whilst the Gunners were so dominant in that period of the match, and he was unafraid to let Taylor know his feelings from his place amongst the substitutes.
