Arsenal are not out of their Champions League semi-final but will be disappointed with their first leg defeat.
Wayne Rooney criticised Arsenal fans for having a subdued atmosphere at the Emirates Stadium for the game and explained that sometimes the players can need a lift from them.
Arsenal now have to emulate Tottenham Hotspur by losing the Champions League semi-final first leg at home but coming back to progress to the final.
Mikel Merino impressed in midfield for the Gunners but Thomas Partey’s return for the second leg should allow the Spaniard to move further forward and Thierry Henry has spotted another reason for Mikel Arteta to be optimistic.

Thierry Henry noticed major PSG problem after Ousmane Dembele injury
Speaking on CBS Sports Golazo during their post match coverage of Arsenal’s defeat to PSG, Henry gave Gunners fans optimism for the second leg by highlighting a flaw in the French champions.
Henry stated: “As soon as Dembele came out in this game, Paris Saint-Germain dropped a bit more and it was easier for Arsenal to put pressure on because Dembele wasn’t coming and getting the ball.
“It was a bit different tactically in what Luis Enrique was doing, he accepted to not have the ball in the last twenty minutes but like I said, you’re still in the tie and anything can happen.”
PSG will ‘monitor’ Dembele over the coming days with the forward having suffered a hamstring injury and was replaced in the second half by Bradley Barcola.
What Luis Enrique said about Ousmane Dembele’s injury
Speaking at his post-match press conference, PSG boss Luis Enrique said that Dembele is a ‘doubt’ for the second leg clash in Paris.
Enrique stated: “He’ll undergo tests tomorrow, It’s not serious, it’s something very minor, but he’s probably a doubt for the second leg. We’re going to try to get Dembele back on the pitch. But we’re a real team.
“If Ousmane can play, that’s better. But if he doesn’t, we’ll still be a real team. We’ve been saying that since the start of the season.”
| Ousmane Dembele PSG record this season | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| Dembele | 45 | 33 | 12 |
The French forward took advantage of Thomas Partey’s absence by cleverly dropping deep to receive the ball for the opening goal before ghosting unmarked to the edge of the box.
His finish was of a player in top form and another example of why he has already struck 33 goals this season, the Gunners will be hoping he doesn’t play in Paris.
If Arsenal can control the ball more in the second leg, chances will come to get that all important goal to get back in the tie.
