Having been at the very top of the game for so long, Arsenal legend Thierry Henry knows a thing or two about greats in the game.

The forward played with many of those in his time with the Gunners, including Dennis Bergkamp, a star who was considered among the best, too.

Combining together, Thierry Henry and Bergkamp were quite the duo as a mixture of skill, pace, power and finishing combined in a package.

Henry recently praised Bergkamp for the impact he made at Arsenal, particularly pointing out his work ethic in training.

Despite that, the Frenchman snubbed his old teammate and opted for another player when discussing one key area.

Thierry Henry claims Michael Laudrup was the best passer he has ever seen

While Henry has seen plenty of stars over the years, including Bergkamp at Arsenal among those, the Frenchman didn’t pick him as the best passer he has seen.

Instead, he opted for Michael Laudrup, a Barcelona legend who also enjoyed spells at Juventus and Real Madrid in his playing days.

The Danish international won 15 trophies across his career before bringing his career to an end in 1998.

When speaking about the passing ability of the star, Henry said on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football: “Michael Laudrup, the best passer I’ve ever seen… Laudrup always used to move the ball before the pass.”

It’s some high praise from someone who has played with the greats of the game, with his view clearly seeing Laudrup among those at the very top.

Henry went on to play for Barcelona, following in his footsteps, in a three-year spell, where he managed to win some big trophies.

Thierry Henry claimed he wanted to play alongside Michael Laudrup

It’s not the first time that Thierry Henry has rained praise upon Michael Laudrup, with the Arsenal legend revealing that he wished he could’ve played alongside him.

Speaking to UEFA in 2020, when asked about which player he wished he could’ve played with, he said: “Michael Laudrup, simple.

“One of the most important things in the game is passing the ball. It’s like a gift you’re sharing with your team and for me, in history, I don’t know any better passer than Michael Laudrup, simple as that.

“I would have loved to be on the end of his passing, because all you had to do is run, and I could do that.

“Some people have been touched by God, and he was. I’ve said it so many times: I think he is recognised among players, but the world of football did not give him the credit that guy deserved.

“Andres Iniesta made his game from him. ‘La Croqueta’ is Laudrup, it’s not Iniesta.

“As much as I love Andres, it’s Laudrup. He only wanted to please people. When you look at the teams he played for, that’s it for me – let’s stop there.”

It shows just how well thought of the former Barcelona man is with Henry in his mind.
