Brentford manager Thomas Frank sent Real Madrid a warning after his side’s draw against Arsenal.
It was yet another Premier League draw for the Gunners when Brentford came to visit the Emirates.
Arsenal drew 1-1 with Brentford to drop points once again in the league; however, the result won’t be dramatised as Mikel Arteta has a greater concern on the horizon.
All attention at Arsenal is on the upcoming Champions League quarter-final second leg against Real Madrid, in what will decide the North Londoners’ fate in the tournament.

Thomas Frank warns Real Madrid about Arsenal
The first leg of the quarter final was a dream for the Gunners, as Arsenal beat Real Madrid 3-0 at the Emirates.
Though Arteta’s side will take a three-goal lead to the Bernabeu, nerves are already setting in, making the Premier League draw with Brentford far from the club’s greatest concern.
An end-of-season feel adorned the Emirates, and even post-match, talk wasn’t entirely focused on the game, as even Brentford manager Thomas Frank spent some time previewing the Champions League.
After seeing his side draw with Arsenal, Frank shared his evaluation of the Gunners and their chances at the Bernabeu.
“They are definitely in a good position, we all know that there are maybe two places where you turn that around, that’s the Bernabeu and Anfield,” he said in his post-match press conference.
“One thing, looking from the outside, Arsenal work hard. They’re very good defensively, they’re very good on defensive set pieces. So, I think they will be fine.”
Frank’s prediction will be appreciated by all associated with Arsenal, as the Danish coach backed the North Londoners to get the job done in Madrid.
Arsenal’s defensive pedigree over Real Madrid in the Champions League
The Brentford manager revealed his admiration for Arsenal’s ability to defend, having just come up against the Gunners in the Premier League.
There are few better qualified to give a verdict on Arteta’s back four than the Dane, who would’ve studied Arsenal ahead of matchday 32.
| 2024/25 Champions League | Arsenal | Real Madrid |
| Matches | 11 | 13 |
| Goals conceded | 6 | 20 |
| Av Goals conceded per game | 0.5 | 1.5 |
| Clean sheets | 6 | 1 |
That being said, it takes a mere glance at Real Madrid and Arsenal’s defensive records in the Champions League this season to support Frank’s comments.
Real Madrid have kept one clean sheet in the competition this term, whereas 54% of Arsenal’s Champions League games have resulted in a clean sheet in 2024/25.
Frank has confidence in Arsenal’s defence and for good reason, as Arteta’s back four have truly shown Real Madrid up in this season’s edition of the tournament.
