Arsenal need a big summer transfer window.

The Gunners have fallen short in the Premier League title race for the third season in a row, and that is really frustrating to everyone at the club.

It has been clear for a while now that Arsenal have what it takes to beat any side in the world, but for one reason or another, they are failing to get over the line.

Many fans feel that the lack of a striker is the reason why Mikel Arteta’s side are struggling, so Tim Sherwood has given a bargain suggestion to the Arsenal manager to solve his problems.

Tim Sherwood says ‘Liam Delap is the answer’ for Arsenal

Arsenal’s need for a new striker has been obvious for a long time.

The Gunners haven’t had a prolific goalscorer since Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang left the club, and that has cost them several times over the years.

A new striker is an absolute necessity this summer, and Andrea Berta is expected to make a big-name signing.

Sherwood, however, believes that before the Gunners get their marquee striker, they should do what it takes to land Liam Delap from Ipswich Town.

The former Tottenham manager said on the Kelly and Wrighty Show: “What we’re saying is, to eliminate the big risk, you’re going to need someone who has already played in the Premier League.

“For me, I think there’s one no-brainer out there, but they will need a few more. I think Liam Delap is the answer, for me, because he is a development player, he will come in there, they can progress him, he has scored a lot of goals for a very poor Ipswich side this year in the Premier League.

“Just tick that box, whatever it’s going to cost – £30 million – it’s nothing these days. It’s a cup of tea in terms of signings in the Premier League. Then maybe go and get another one.

“[With Delap] At least you’ve got a body that can play in that position. You haven’t got to force someone to play out of position to put the jigsaw together.”

Arsenal have made an offer to Liam Delap

Delap is a rising star in the Premier League.

The Englishman has all the attributes you would want from a striker, and the fact that he is still only 22 means he will get even better in the coming years.

Reports have claimed that Arsenal have made an offer to Delap’s representatives recently over a move to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

It was revealed that the Gunners had made it clear to Delap they want him to come as a backup to someone like Viktor Gyokeres, who appears to be their top target as things stand.

It remains to be seen if Delap would be willing to play as a backup at Arsenal instead of being a starter elsewhere.
