Jorginho to leave Arsenal early for Flamengo transfer
The inaugural FIFA Club World Cup takes place this summer in the USA and Arsenal midfielder Jorginho is set to be a part of the tournament.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Gunners have agreed to release the Italian midfielder from his contract early, in order to play for his new side Flamengo.
Romano revealed Jorginho’s Flamengo deal at the beginning of May and the clubs have now settled on a deal to allow the 33-year-old the chance to play in competition.
Jorginho has been an excellent servant to the Gunners since joining from Chelsea for £12m in January 2023 and Arteta described Jorginho as ‘top’ earlier this season.
Jorginho set to face Olivier Giroud in FIFA Club World Cup
An intriguing encounter for Arsenal fans to look out for this summer will involve Jorginho’s new side Flamengo clashing with Olivier Giroud’s Los Angeles FC.
The two sides are set to meet in the group phase of the competition with Jorginho also set to face Premier League rivals and former club Chelsea.

Giroud and Jorginho spent time together at Stamford Bridge and will now clash on opposite sides as they battle to win the first FIFA Club World Cup trophy.
The summer will represent the chance for Gunners fans to follow old favourites, which now includes Jorginho as the curtain comes down on his North London adventure.
