Jhon Duran has emerged as a target for Arsenal in this transfer window.
The Gunners’ search for a new centre-forward remains ongoing. We have entered the final week of the window, but there have been no signs of a new number nine yet.
A move for Alexander Isak is almost impossible in this window, while Mikel Arteta’s other big target Benjamin Sesko is difficult to sign in the coming days as well.
So, Arsenal have turned their attention to other targets, and Duran is one of them.
What Unai Emery has said about Arsenal target Jhon Duran
Duran only joined Aston Villa in January 2023.
In two years, the Colombian’s stock has gone up massively thanks to his magnificent performances in the Premier League and the Champions League this season.
However, Unai Emery only likes to play with one striker at Aston Villa, and Ollie Watkins is the first choice there. That has increased speculation about the other striker at Villa Park.
Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Arsenal called to enquire about Duran recently, and we think the forward would be a great addition at the Emirates.
Emery has waxed lyrical about Duran, and one comment he made about the striker in October is exactly why Arsenal should sign him.
“He arrived two years ago, he has huge potential, sometimes passion,” Emery told HaytersTV after Villa’s big win over Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

Duran’s potential solves two big problems at Arsenal
Arsenal have needed a new striker for several years now – since Pierre-Emerick Aubemayeng‘s form fell off the cliff and he was banished from the club.
The Gunners have gone over two full seasons without a prolific number nine, and that is why they have failed to win the Premier League title in the last two years.
Arsenal’s priority is the present, but they cannot ignore the future.
A player like Duran, who Emery says has huge potential, will solve Arsenal’s problems right now and the fact that he is still only 21 means he can become the Gunners’ talisman up top for the better part of the next decade.
It won’t be easy, but with Sesko and Isak unavailable, we think Arsenal should go all out to sign Duran before the window shuts next Monday.
