Injuries have hurt Arsenal a lot since the start of the 2024/25 season.

The Gunners have an elite squad now, but in the last campaign, fitness issues ruined their chances of winning the Premier League and Champions League.

Arsenal are far better equipped to deal with injuries this season, but they are still losing many players for one reason or another.

That is not ideal at all for Mikel Arteta.

Leandro Trossard says he played for Arsenal despite being injured

Leandro Trossard has constantly divided opinion at Arsenal.

The Belgian was signed after the Gunners failed to land their top target in January 2023, Mykhaylo Mudryk.

Trossard was only a backup option, but he impressed in the famous red and white.

Over the last two seasons as well, Trossard has come up with huge goals for Arsenal, which is a trait that not many players have.

Yet, the versatile attacker has come under criticism at times, and there were even rumours that Trossard would leave the Emirates during last summer’s transfer window.

However, the former Brighton man has now revealed that he never even considered an exit and claimed that the rumours only surfaced because of his limited game time.

The lack of minutes, Trossard says, was due to an injury. Yet he has been involved in every single matchday squad and was an unused substitute in just two games this term.

He told Sporza: “There are always such rumours. Going away has never really been an option. I feel very good at Arsenal.

“In the early part of the season, I did a bit of a struggle with an injury. I think those rumours were there because of the lack of minutes.”

“I’ve played a lot in recent weeks, I’ve done my thing and I feel good about that.”

Leandro Trossard is proving his doubters wrong at Arsenal

Trossard is never going to be a superstar who will score 30 goals a season.

However, that doesn’t mean that he is a bad player, and the narrative that he isn’t good enough for Arsenal is absolutely ludicrous.

The Gunners’ number 19 averages a direct goal contribution every 100.5 minutes this season, which is an excellent return.

Theo Walcott once described Trossard as ‘underrated’, and he was right.

Some Arsenal fans refuse to give the 30-year-old the credit he deserves, but his numbers show that he can still be a very important player for Arteta this season.
