‘We should be allowed…’: Bukayo Saka now gives verdict on Arsenal celebration controversy

Despite an incredible run of form in the Premier League, Arsenal still find themselves subject to criticism in the media, and this reached boiling point after a recent victory over Liverpool.

Arsenal thrashed the Premier League leaders to keep themselves in the title race, and the performance was so brilliant that it saw Liverpool concede a higher xG total than they have ever faced.

However, the fallout of that match saw Jamie Carragher slam Martin Odegaard for over-celebrating with the club photographer, and this dominated the headlines instead of anything performance-related.

Bukayo Saka, who scored the opening goal on the day, has now defended his teammates for the way they are celebrating games despite the criticism they receive.

Bukayo Saka defends Arsenal celebrations despite criticism

Speaking on the Men In Blazers Podcast, Saka claimed that Arsenal deserved to beat Liverpool, worked hard for their win and should be allowed to celebrate accordingly.

“I think we should be allowed to enjoy our wins. I think that was a really big victory, we worked really hard to win that game, and you can see how much it means to us,” Saka stated.

“I don’t think there’s any problem with the way we celebrated, and I think that just represents how we are.

“We work really hard, but we’re also going to enjoy what we work hard for when we achieve it as well.”

Arsenal went into the game against Liverpool knowing that a defeat would end their chances of title success, and delivered an exceptional performance from the very first minute.

Victories in that manner deserve to be celebrated massively, and given the results Arsenal have achieved since, it is fair to say that they picked up a lot of momentum from the win.

Saka is a player who grew up at the club, and progressed from Academy starlet to top-class player, and these victories, as well as the fact that Arsenal are competing in a title race, will likely mean even more to him, and it is no surprise to see that he is sticking up for his teammates in the face of unjust criticism.

With Liverpool and Manchester City continuing to pick up points, Arsenal are still in third place, but are competing well with the two top sides in this title race.
