What Thomas Partey’s agent has done for Arsenal contract talks as intense discussions set for new deal timeframe

Arsenal’s preparation for next season can finally begin after securing Champions League football.

Mikel Arteta’s side made sure of their top five finish in the Premier League with a 1-0 victory over Newcastle as Declan Rice struck the winner.

Attention can now turn to the summer transfer window and whilst Viktor Gyokeres is close to signing for Arsenal there are a lot of internal matters for Andrea Berta to sort.

Thomas Partey was left out of the kit launch amid his contract expiring in June however, journalist Charles Watts has just dropped an update on the situation of the midfielder.

Thomas Partey’s agent to meet with Andrea Berta

Partey wants to stay at Arsenal beyond his current deal and would like a quick resolution amid continuing contract talks.

Watts has claimed that Partey’s agent was at the game at the Emirates Stadium against Newcastle and is meeting with Berta this week as talks are ‘intensifying’.

Jorginho is joining Flamengo this summer and is set to take part in the FIFA Club World Cup for his new side, meaning Arsenal’s numbers in midfield are diminishing.

Martin Zubimendi’s imminent Arsenal arrival would bolster options but the Gunners are keen to tie Partey down for an extension.

Thomas Partey’s contract concern

Partey has been magnificent for Arsenal this season and has arguably enjoyed his best season at the club since joining from Atletico Madrid.

The one concern for the club and its fans over a new deal would be his injury record and with the player approaching 32, those niggles may become more frequent.

If he can stay fit and accept a one or two year contract extension, then Arteta has a player that he trusts and can guide the younger players in his Arsenal squad.

Squad depth will be key for the Gunners challenging on all four fronts next season and Partey would still be a key part of that if he can agree his extension.
