All eyes are on Arsenal’s training sessions in Hong Kong, as Viktor Gyokeres has officially joined the squad.

Gyokeres has been out of action since the end of the 2024/25 season with Sporting CP, returning to work with Arsenal after completing his transfer.

Mikel Arteta and the squad welcomed Gyokeres with open arms during the club’s pre-season tour of Asia, which has one game remaining.

There’s a possibility that Gyokeres could make his debut against Tottenham in the first-ever overseas North London Derby, and if his form in training is anything to go by, then Spurs should be worried.

Viktor Gyokeres shows his strength in Arsenal training

Arsenal needed a number nine last season, and every season following Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s exit.

Gyokeres will certainly offer Arteta goals, scoring 97 times during his two-season stay at Sporting CP.

The Gunners know that they can rely on the 27-year-old to put the ball in the net, but already, it’s becoming clear that there’s so much more he can offer.

A video posted by The Sun showed Gyokeres holding off Marli Salmon and chesting the ball into the path of Mikel Merino, who passed to Martin Odegaard to shoot.

Arsenal’s £64m signing showed incredible awareness to cushion the ball expertly down into the space in front of Merino, who was running in that direction.

Gyokeres’ strength was there for all to see, as was his composure in attacking settings, two things that could be decisive to Arsenal finally winning the Premier League.

Other footage has been doing the rounds showing Gyokeres scoring from all angles in training, but to see the Sweden international’s ability to connect with his teammates to generate a shooting chance adds a new level of excitement.

Martin Odegaard reveals what he’s already seen from Gyokeres

If there’s one player that Gyokeres will want to get friendly with at Arsenal, it’s club captain Odegaard.

The two Scandinavian players could strike an unplayable partnership, with Odegaard already seeing signs of what his new teammate will bring to the squad.

“You can also see the hunger, the energy he brings. I’m really excited to have him with the team,” Odegaard told Arsenal’s official website

“He’s only trained a few times, but you can already see the quality, the energy, and the willingness. I’m excited to have a pitch with him.”

Fans will hope to see Gyokeres make his debut against Spurs, where the striker could have a dream start to life as a Gunner.
